Notes from the margins

An excavation of the skeletal interior of a leaf.

A fine web of veins, bridged with brittle remnants of leaf skin, thin as vellum, transparent like crepe paper. Perhaps fallen too soon, disease or rot or happenstance; but survival is resistance is the bare remains of what was once alive, still exists, even in the absence of chlorophyll and water. The light still passes through.
